Getting started

From one idea to a finished chapter

Storyum is a story engine: you build your plot as a structure, and the platform writes the book to it. This is the fastest path from a blank project to your first rendered, quality-checked chapter.

1. Create a project

Sign in and create a project (a Latin name — letters, digits, - and _). Pick your language. A project holds one book: its world, characters, plot, and prose.

2. Build the world & characters

In World and Entities, add your characters, locations, items, worlds and cultures. Fill the fields that matter — role, key traits, relationships. The more grounded your entities, the more coherent everything downstream.

3. Engineer the plot in StoryGraph

Open StoryGraph and lay your plot out as a graph — beats, reveals and character knowledge as nodes, wired by connections. This is the load-bearing step: get the structure right and everything the engine computes afterwards inherits that coherence.

The recompute loop: change one node and the whole plot re-derives, coherently. Load a proven structure and your world stays while the plot rebuilds to it — control at every altitude.

4. Derive structure → scenes → bible

From the graph the engine computes the chapter structure, then each scene's blueprint, then the story bible (canon facts, consistency rules). At each stage you can review and tune — the beats should track the story you intend before you spend on prose.

5. Render the prose — and de-AI it

Run the render to turn the structure into prose. Then use the quality suite: a 10-axis read, an AI-tic hunter, and one-click fixes — so the result reads like you, not like a machine.

6. Export

Export your book — plain text is available on every plan; DOCX, EPUB and print-ready PDF come with a subscription. Your work is yours.

What powers it — coins & tiers

  1. 1Coins pay for each AI action (world, characters, plot, prose, quality). Every plan includes a monthly grant; free accounts start with 1,000 to try the pipeline.
  2. 2Quality tiers (Bronze / Silver / Gold) trade cost for a stronger pass — Gold for the flagship read, Bronze to iterate cheaply.
  3. 3Higher plans raise your quotas (projects, storage, publishing) and unlock advanced features — see Pricing.
Next: the StoryGraph deep-dive (how connections and node types work) and the case studies — famous chapters rebuilt structure-first. (Coming as the hub grows.)
